Maths - Basic Operations and Multiples
Today in Maths, Mr.Wegner talked to us about the Basic Operations used in number facts. Here is what we discussed:
Firstly, we came up with the 4 types of operations, then brainstormed other terms that mean the same thing.
Addition - add, sum of, plus.
Subtraction - minus, take away, difference.
Multiplication - times (tables), multiply.
Division - divide, into groups.

We then started to look at what multiples are - Mr.Wegner showed us this website as an introduction to how they work.

What a great post - I really like the way you have formatted your text to make it clearer and the way you have added a picture, link and told us where the image is from. It looks great!
So can you tell me which operation would you put these words under:
PRODUCT and TOTAL ?
I look forward to reading more.

Posted February 23, 2007, 1:29 pmHi Learning Area 20 people,
How exciting that you have started your blog for the year. And to think that you haven’t had much access to the computers!
This is a great post. What about the words ’share’ and ‘groups of’? Where do they fit into the basic operations? Sorry - I’m always the teacher.
That is a really cool picture. I also love the hyperlink to ‘Maths 6 Spy Guys’. It’s a great site and I might even use it with my class.
Here is something else you might like to try for your maths.
Google (http://www.google.com.au/) the letters ‘nlvm’ (not the apostrophes) and click ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ - have a look in there and tell me what you think. I’ve checked (ticked) ‘Notify me of followup comments via e-mail’ so just leave another comment here and I will get it.
BTW (By The Way) I’m the teacher of the miniLegends at Glenelg School. We have also just started our blog. http://alupton.edublogs.org/
Last year’s blog was at http://alupton.wordpress.com/
Cheers, Al
one last thing - did you know that you have one of the most exciting, enthusiastic, well informed, highly skilled and well connected teachers in our state? He is what we call a ‘Leading Light’. You are very lucky and I bet Mr Wegner thinks you are all pretty cool as well.
